Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find some of the most common questions surrounding laser cutting and engraving.
Q: Can you lasercut metal or glass?
Unfortunately the kind of lasers we operate are different to that of commercial lasers, which would traditionally cut metals. We can though, provide a service where we have parts cut on your behalf using our trusted supplier.
Glass would normally be water-jet cut, but it is possible to laser engrave both metal and glass on our Universal Laser 4.60.
Q: Can you laser cut from the photograph on my phone?
Unfortunately any pixel based image does not have the required vector edges to facilitate a cut line.
It is possible to laser engrave from a photograph if it has the required DPI (resolution) but it will often need work to get it ready.
If you only have an image of what you would like, then you would need to opt for our Bespoke service.
We would take your image and start from scratch with a fresh design carried out on our CAD software. From there we could take it into production for you.
Q: How much will my order cost?
This is a question we are asked often, and it can be broken down into several factors:
The first guiding factor is do you have the cut file ready to quote? If you do, submit it after reading our guides and you will get a price back within 24 hours at our Bureau rates.
If you don't have a cut file, then we will need to look at creating files for you that will be able to quote against. This is part of our Bespoke service. We will need to discuss your budget and requirements, and also any deadlines you have to develop an understanding of how much time we will need to input into the project. This will be a chargeable service.
The actual pricing is based on five more factors:
Machine run time (in minutes) to complete your job.
If any finishing or assembly is required.
Speed of delivery, such as using the Express option.
